Driving Instructor Vehicles with Hand Controls
Thanks to our recent partnership with Problem Management Engineering we are now very proud to offer a variety of Driving Solutions for drivers with various disabilities that affect both their lower limbs.

With the recent roll out of the NDIS people living with a disability are now receiving government funding for vehicle modification and driving lessons.
We believe its only fair that people living with a disability have the same opportunities to learn how to drive that everyone else does.

There are a variety of hand assisted controls suitable for paraplegic, double amputee and short statured drivers.
With exclusive brands such as GuidoSimplex (Italy), Paravan(Germany) and our own in-house developments that we export worldwide, we have a variety of products and knowledge to help you and your client make the most informed decision.

PME Hand Controls
PME Hand Controls use mechanical linkages to allow for left or right handed control of the brake and accelerator. Our design offers a simple intuitive operation which incorporates the least fatiguing and most natural motion to apply the accelerator. They are comfortable and responsive to use.

High Quality, Professional Looking and Comfortable to Use

We achieve the best possible result with no, or minimal, modification to the vehicle’s interior to retain the factory look. Quality is assured; PME hand controls are certified to Australian Standard 3954.2 for your safety.
There are two standard types available with different methods of operation;
-
The Push-Pull system operates with a push for the brake and a pull towards the driver for acceleration.

-
The Radial system operates with a push for the brake and a pat (downward push) for acceleration.

Hand Controls will generally be installed with a spinner knob for steering and accessory controls on the hand controls or on the spinner so that blinkers, head lights and other functions can be operated without removing hands from the wheel or hand control.
Electronic Radial Hand Controls
Similarly to the radial PME Mechanical Hand Controls, the Electronic Radial Hand Control Accelerator System is operated with a push for the brake and a smooth radial action (downward push) for acceleration. This electronic system however, features absolute minimal effort acceleration thanks to its electronic interface. This can be ideal for those who find accelerating with a mechanical system fatiguing or for those who simply want a lower-effort, smoother acceleratory response.

Clever design translates into effortless driving

The system operates via a dedicated CPU that directly interfaces with the vehicle's existing drive-by-wire accelerator system. For the user, this translates into very smooth, progressive acceleration and non-tiring operation. For these reasons, the Electronic Radial Hand Controls can assist particularly when driving for an extended duration. The system also features an automatic accelerator cut-out safety feature for instances where the brake and accelerator are applied together. Depending on differing driving techniques, this feature is optional.
Thanks to the compact size of the Electronic Radial Accelerator, this unobtrusive system allows for easy entry and exit from the vehicle. It can also be used in vehicles where space limitations make it impossible fit mechanical radial hand controls. These hand controls have been designed to fit and operate in any vehicle.
Accelerator Over-Ring
The Accelerator Ring is an advanced hand control driving adaptation. It offers drivers effortless, controlled acceleration and braking, with the advantage of a natural driving position, to achieve one of the most satisfying driving experiences available.

Smooth unrestricted driving for enthusiasts

While using the Accelerator Ring, both hands remain on the steering wheel. Popular with driving enthusiasts, this driving position allows for easy access to secondary functions such as the indicators, headlights, gearstick and horn while maintaining control of the steering wheel and accelerator. For the user, this means smooth, unrestricted driving.

Acceleration is achieved by simply applying pressure at any point of the ring. Two models are available with differing methods of operation that appeal to a wide range of users. The Under-ring model is positioned underneath the steering wheel with acceleration achieved by simply pulling the ring towards the wheel with the fingers. The Over-ring model is positioned over the steering wheel and is operated by pushing the ring towards it.
Braking operates by way of a custom PME push handle situated behind and to the side of the steering wheel. In the event of the accelerator and brake being operated at the same time, a security system automatically cancels the acceleration.

This conversion is one of the most aesthetically pleasing with the Accelerator Ring blending in with the vehicle’s interior to give a factory finish look.
Ghost Ring
The Ghost Ring, exclusive to PME through Guidosimplex, is an innovative and revolutionary accelerating system mounted directly underneath the steering wheel. The Ghost allows the user to accelerate by simply performing a natural rotary (clockwise/anti-clockwise) movement. Both hands remain on the wheel meaning greater control of the vehicle and access to accessories.

Out of sight but not out of reach

Accompanied by PMEs custom brake grip which contours to the vehicles outer radius of the steering wheel, giving you the ultimate palm on and off style braking and more two hands on the wheel driving experience. Popular with driving enthusiasts, this driving position allows for easy access to secondary functions such as the indicators, headlights, gearstick and horn while maintaining control of the steering wheel and accelerator. For the user, this means smooth, unrestricted driving.
The system operates via a dedicated programmable CPU that directly interfaces with the vehicle's existing drive-by-wire accelerator system. This translates into fluid and responsive acceleration unmatched by other mechanical-type hand controls. In the event of the accelerator and brake being operated at the same time, a security system automatically cancels the acceleration.
This conversion is one of the most aesthetically pleasing. The Ghost Ring is completely hidden away from sight, blending in with the vehicle’s interior to give a factory finish look. If you have driven with conventional type hand controls you will definitely not be disappointed with the latest technology Ghost electronic accelerator ring system.
